Companies and organizations benefit from the seamless integration of Aritecta’s Mediaflux data management platform with XtreemStore, the object storage software for tape archiving.
“With the seamless integration of Aritecta Mediaflux and GRAU DATA XtreemStore, we are offering companies the opportunity for the first time to cost-effectively offload inactive data (cold data) to LTO magnetic tapes without sacrificing visibility or ease of access. Via the S3 Glacier interface, archive data can be automatically moved to cost-effective tapes, while the Mediaflux platform centrally tracks all data types - whether online or offsite - along with their metadata. “Thanks to this combination, our customers retain full visibility into their data assets at all times and can locate even archived files directly within the file system,” says Olaf Jacobi, Key Account Manager at integration partner interface systems.
Proven Solution Combination
In July 2024, interface systems, Arcitecta, and GRAU DATA successfully participated in the Technical University of Dresden’s tender and were awarded the contract for this solution combination of Mediaflux and XtreemStore. The research and educational institution was seeking a solution capable of meeting the high requirements for data and metadata management, including metadata management. Following a proof-of-concept, all desired functions of Mediaflux were positively evaluated. Additionally, the institution sought software that, in conjunction with Mediaflux, could control the existing tape drives and offer not only traditional archiving and backup but also the capabilities of hierarchical storage management. XtreemStore from GRAU DATA proved to be the ideal solution for data archiving on tape.
“Arcitecta sells the Mediaflux software worldwide through resellers and integrators. With XtreemStore, these sales partners now have an additional, highly scalable, and well-integrated solution for data archiving on magnetic tape at their disposal,” says Frank Radefeldt, Sales Manager EMEA for Arcitecta, based in Munich.
“The Mediaflux data management platform and the XtreemStore software form the ideal combination for customers who need to manage and provide access to very large amounts of data across different storage platforms. The solution installed at TU Dresden clearly demonstrates the potential and can serve as a starting point for further projects for resellers and integrators,” says Herbert Grau, CEO of GRAU DATA.
